#1: Why Family Ministry?

In this session, we will be discussing the importance and purpose of Family Ministry. God has designed the family as the foundation of society, and parents carry the weight of developing the younger generation into adults that love God more than anything else!
This is where family ministry comes in. I believe God designed the church, the body of Christ, to come alongside parents and help them teach, train, and love their children to Jesus. By coming alongside families to encourage them in the word and support their parents in the discipleship process, we can help to develop a whole new generation of believers that stand for truth, fight sin, and impact the world around them for Jesus!

#2: Five Key Qualities of Awesome Volunteers

In this session, we will be discussing 5 key qualities of an awesome volunteer serving in family ministry. As church leadership, we don't want duds, but instead passionate volunteers that love kids, and we want to help all of our volunteers avoid a joyless and passionless life of service. So let's take a few moments to help you understand the our expectations, what your leadership looks for in a family ministry volunteer by discussing the 5 key qualities of an awesome volunteer!

#3: Top Family Ministry Safety Policies

In this session, we will be discussing the top safety policies and procedures to remember in family ministry. This may not be the most fun and exciting topic in our training, but it may be the most important as we seek to protect our families. Every church should have a child and teen protection policy in place to make sure both families and leaders are following proper procedures so the entire ministry is safe from false accusations and inappropriate behavior. As a volunteer, make sure you know, understand, and follow our updated child and teen protection policy regularly following proper practices while serving in family ministry.

#4: Six Key Strategies to Effectively Engage Kids in Teaching

In this session, we will be discussing 6 key strategies to effectively engage children in teaching. As a pastor, our desire is not simply to teach a lesson to kids, but to effectively engage them and bring the Bible to life so that they start to grasp and remember the concepts that we are teaching them. As an adult, it's not always easy to communicate with kids. As volunteers in family ministry, we must never forget we are ministering to kids. Kids may not be adults, but they are smart, will grasp more than you think, and simply need someone to engage them on their level. So when it comes to teaching, here are 6 key strategies to engaging kids effectively and bring the bible to life.

#5: Four Ways to Care for Your Kids

In this session, we will be discussing four key ways to care for your kids in the classroom. Cindy Dunnett, a longtime member of Emmanuel, takes a moment to share her experience as a teacher and leader in early childhood development in the Toledo area. To truly make an impact on the kids that the Lord has placed under our responsibility, we must take the time to care for these kids as Jesus. So when it comes to loving kids like Jesus, here are four ways for you to better care for your kids.

#6: Six Tips for Sharing the Gospel with Kids

In this session, we will be discussing the important responsibility of sharing the beautiful truth of the gospel with children. The good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ is the reason we are here. Without Jesus, we are dead in sin, enslaved to ourselves, and stuck pursuing Satan and what the world has to offer. But God, who is rich in mercy, loves us so much and he doesn't want us to stay that way. He loves us so much that he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to rescue us by taking our punishment for our sin and sacrificing himself on the cross. After three days, Jesus came back to life to graciously and mercifully offer us the same resurrected life and forgiveness from sin so that we can be right with God, part of the kingdom of heaven, and live with a new purpose here on earth! What an amazing truth that has changed our lives, and it is our privilege and responsibility to carefully share that truth with children.
